Conceptual Sculpture
soy wax | scale 1:1000 | 64×64×415 mm
This work explores memory, scale, and ritual through a model of the World Trade Center at 1:1000, cast entirely in wax. Conceived as a pair of candles, the piece functions simultaneously as memorial and reinterpretation. Across cultures, lighting a candle is an act of remembrance for those lost; here, that gesture is extended to the events of September 11. As the candles burn, the towers slowly melt, echoing the collapse of the originals. The work confronts the tension between commemoration and reenactment, transforming a domestic ritual into a meditation on fragility, loss, and the passage of time.
