Designed for a site in Lusaka, Zambia, the 4 Courtyard House organizes daily life around a series of four distinct outdoor rooms. The central living and dining space is flanked by these courtyards, each offering a unique function and atmosphere.
A formal entry courtyard marks the threshold into the home, while a second courtyard extends the kitchen into an open-air BBQ and dining area. A third, more contemplative courtyard becomes a sculptural focal point, anchoring the interior with art and light. The largest of the four serves as the main garden—an open, private outdoor living space that connects nature to the heart of the house.
This design balances privacy and openness, using the courtyards to frame views, control climate, and enrich the domestic experience.
